Cunning Nowhere

In the south of China, I have learned to speak the Hokkien dialect. As I am a red(well, pale yellow)-haired barbarian, I cannot adequately reproduce the sounds of a famous profanity. But I have taken it as my own. You need to use your imagination, my dear Hokkien friends. Guds hjælp, Folkets kærlighed, Danmarks styrke, Kynings havn.

highlander

I am sorry to my friends in Ost-Asia for not writing such a long time now. We are all busy, first is examinations and now is other things and this and that. But I have come to realise that up in the hills and sipping coffee near a casino is not something very Scandinavian (although of course we are five or six different nations and some commercial types like the Swedes would take advantage).

It is good to relax and let the charming Ost-Asian spirit of massage and hot drinks get into your muscles. I will come downhill and write more when the work of two terms in Ost-Asian school is out of my bones.

wolfgang

It is quite sad. I have only just discovered that his name is Wolfgang, which is a silly German name for a good teacher. But he is going away before we are quite friends. He was telling me about his school and how they have a lot of silly meetings. Well, I think most schools have lots of silly meetings in Ost-Asia. I am doing this while marking papers at an examiner meeting. I do not know why some of these people are so unprofessional. And I am becoming like that also.

barbarians

I am not blogging for a very long time. Life is in Ost-Asia a bit meaningless because we have seen so much failure that is not really failure. I am speaking about my students, who are bright and curious and wanting to know more, but they are told to keep quiet and be good Moslems. I do not mind that they are Moslems, but I mind that they are threatened if they want to know about anything that is not Moslem. I am minding an old saying of the Great Caliph, "If we threaten the barbarian who cannot read the Book, we are worse than the barbarian."

examinations

My students having examinations two weeks. Life is confusing to them. Life is tiring to us.
